Happy Birthday, William Hanna

by Chexy on July 14, 2010

William Hanna of Hanna-Barbera was born 100 years ago today. By 1937 he was working at MGM and met his lifelong collaborator, Joe Barbera.

They opened their own studio in 1957, and the rest is animation history: The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound, Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs, etc.

This was their first effort in 1940, Puss Gets the Boot, which became Tom and Jerry. This cartoon won them their first Oscar nomination.

Hanna died in 1991 at age 90.
