in fabulosity, gorgeousness, hooray, music, stuff I like, ya gotta love itI’ve got to give it up for Chaz Bono. Man, he’s got a lot of balls. The first transsexual to appear on “Dancing with the Stars.” There’s a claim to fame for the ages. Forget about being Cher’s son and former daughter, he’s on his own here.
He took his difference and made it real for him, doing what he needed to do for his happiness, taking all the criticism from types who don’t like that sort of thing and make it known.
No matter, Chaz persisted, despite his bad knees and critics, his abundant avoirdupois no impediment to his not-so-quick quickstep… well, hardly any.
Here’s to the courage of Chaz, a real transformer performer, an example to all those with desires that are troublesome for some, but who just go on and do the work they’re here to do.
Bravo, mister.

in dancing with the stars, fabulosity, hooray, sensations, stuff I like, ya gotta love itThe sun shines on Spain’s happiest bride, Cayetana, Duchess of Alba, whose radiance on her wedding day made even the most hardened observer slightly harder.
Just look at that pure joy! This was just after they said “I do.” Doesn’t it just make you melt?
After the ceremony, the not-so-blushing bride kicked up… er, shuffled on the dance floor in an exuberant display of octogenarian glee.
Outside of the palace, vendors sold souvenirs in her likeness.
Precioso!

in bad hair, duchess of alba, fabulosity, gorgeousness, hooray, hope, old people, pearl clutchIt’s a beautiful day in Seville, where approximately 50 people will gather in the chapel of the Duchess of Alba’s 15th Century Palacio de las Duenas to witness her marriage to former civil servant Alfonso Diez, 61.
Crowds have gathered outside the palace, where designers of the duchess’ secret wedding dress made their way through a crowd of reporters. Photos will be released by the palace after the ceremony.
Meanwhile, a brisk business in wedding souvenirs included sales of t-shirts, badges, masks, wigs (!), and dolls in her likeness.
The duchess, 85 and twice widowed, is a strict Roman Catholic and said “that’s why I am marrying for a third time.” To appease her children, she gave them their inheritance and had Alfie sign a solid prenup.
King Juan Carlos has given the marriage his blessing.
According to a Spanish gossip site, guests will enjoy Spanish and British-inspired dishes including gazpacho, rice with spicy lobster, beef Wellington and rice pudding, and I suppose, Ensure martinis.
The couple is expected to honeymoon with a trip to the living room.

in duchess of alba, hooray, lovebirds, money, old people, royalsOh, look who it is! It’s retired magicians/animal enthusiasts Siegfried and Roy, lured from their Las Vegas lair to do the honorary keg tapping at the Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas’ 8th annual Oktoberfest, and Siegfried wore his lederhosen!
Roy nearly died after being injured by a tiger on his 59th birthday, October 3, 2003, during their act at the Mirage.
It’s nice to see them up and about.

in can you believe it?, fabulosity, hooray, legends, unfortunateThe Lord Baltimore Hotel in its Art Deco glory, as it stood at 31st and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach… below as it appears today.
Look at that! It’s still there! It’s no longer a hotel and the marquee is gone, but it’s there!
Another happy ending for Real Gone Places.
