Joan Kennedy, who turned 75 on Sept. 9th, with her bereaved grandchildren, Max Greathouse Allen, 14, and Grace Kennedy Allen, who turned 17 three days after their mother Kara Kennedy’s death at age 51 on Sept. 16th, as seen outside the Holy Trinity Church in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
Things change.

in kennedys, memorials, pearl clutchCamilla, Duchess of Cornwall has mastered the art of brushing away flyaway hair without cutting her finger.
This was our Cam at a memorial ceremony for UK victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Her footwear reflects the somber occasion, and the hurt.

in bad hair, memorials, royalsHe’s bad, but good. Mae West, 1935.
Michael Jackson, gone two years today. I love this video.
Farrah, also gone two years today. Plus styling mist, for electrocution.
I think this is where Cher got the idea. Eleanor Powell.

in 1930, advertising, bad hair, chexy's saturday matinee, girls will be girls, gone, memorials, oddities, remembering, stuff I likeElizabeth Taylor… in towel turban glamor.
Below, her final resting place. The flowers on the floor had adorned her casket. The 10-foot statue is called the “Angel of Memory” in the Art Guide of Forest Lawn. The 70-year-old statue is located in the Memorial Terrace of the Great Mausoleum in an area called the Hall of Memory. It was crafted from imported marble by Italian sculptor Ermenegildo Luppi.
Here’s another view…

in gone, legends, memorials, turban tuesdayThat’s Michael Jackson’s tomb at the end of the “Ascension Corridor” in the Great Mausoleum’s Holly Terrace (below in pink) at Forest Lawn in restful Glendale, California.
Elizabeth Taylor was quite enamored with the place when she attended MJ’s funeral and talked of having her own earthly remains kept there as well.
Now it seems she will.

in gone, legends, memorials, white buildingsFrank Buckles, 110, the last remaining WWI veteran, died during Sunday’s Oscarcast. Apparently, at that age, it’s very easy to be bored to death.
It was reported that people as young as 30 experienced difficulty focusing and staying conscious during the show.

in awards, i make shit up, little known facts, memorials, rememberingPrince Chuck points a metal detector at a Getty photographer while Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, stands by her manque.
Chuck’s timing couldn’t have been worse… he pulled this little stunt while meeting members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment — just before a service to commemorate its fallen members! Talk about bombing!
But as long as we’re here, let’s take a look at the Duchess.
This is a look that’s perfect for a memorial service, because she looks like she just passed away.
The fleshtone lipstick is a tragic fail, compounded by the horror of a light beige lip liner that makes her look like she was drinking a Venti in the car.
Her hairspray fumes appear to have caused an explosion that has left her eyes covered in soot.
The crepe scarf is a nice touch. It softens her look, in much the way that a rat-tail file will soften metal.
