She’s fun, she’s fabulous, she’s the monarch everyone’s talking about… Betty Deuce celebrates her 86th birthday today, and Her Majesty still has all the glam and giddyup of a gal half her age as she approaches her 60th year on the throne.
Betty is wearing the King George VI State Diadem crown… a mere 1,333 diamonds weighing 327.75 carats, festooned with 169 pearls along the base. Between the four crosses are the rose, thistle and shamrock; symbols of England, Scotland and Ireland. Here’s a better look at it.
Tonight, while you’re out partying, raise a glass to this fabulous queen. And Betty too.
Betty Deuce, looking as regal and lovely as any old queen who pays attention to herself, appeared at Windsor Castle on Wednesday to receive a gift of two park benches from the Royal Engineers Association.
Truly thrilling for Her Majesty.
Here’s a pic of Windsor Castle, Betty’s weekend shack.
The Grande Dame of Gorgeousness, Camilla, Duchess of Rothesay (yup, she’s that too), took her act on the road, landing this time in Aberdeen, Scotland, where she met with music university students and sampled some of the local goodies.
Wearing a tartan plaid dress, dark jacket and a pearl collar, the Duchess appears to have had her hair sanded down for spring.
Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, looked stunning in this unsophisticated jacket from the new T.J. MAXX in Sherman Oaks, as seen with Enos Mafokate (pronounced “Mafokate”) at the Soweto Equestrian foundation yesterday in Soweto.
Wearing her hair in the modified burlap and coffee Elvis coif that she’s been trying for the last 35 years, the Princess spread good cheer on the start of her 3-day visit to mark her mother’s jubilee.
Princess Anne is 10th in line to the British throne, and looks like she could be first in line at Sizzler.
Louise was born two months prematurely on November 8, 2003. She has the eye condition known as exotropia, often called “cross-eyed,” which can sometimes cause diplopia (double vision).
Her parents have decided against correcting her eye through surgery, saying that they don’t want to put her through unnecessary cosmetic treatments.
Louise would normally have been titled Her Royal Highness, Princess Louise of Wessex, but her parents asked that she be given only a courtesy title, hence, Lady Louise Windsor. This move was seen as part of the modernization of the royal family.
Get your minds out of the gutter, girls, that’s Queen Margrethe II of Denmark… Margie to me, wearing an absolutely breathtaking giant pearl necklace with a variety of pearls… which appear to be of the cultured Tahitian variety. Because she’s Queen, dammit.
The strand has an approximate retail value of $60,000 – $80,000 or more.
This was the scene when Grande Dame Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, took her act to a farm in Chippenham last week.
Camilla is wearing the pleated tweed skirt and boots she wore when she was a hostess at Medieval Times in Buena Park. (Not many people know about that.)
And no, Camilla is not losing her hair. That’s straw.
Her Majesty popped up at Saint George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, wearing the lovely lavender suit topped with a perfect Easter bonnet, and sporting the Cambridge Pearl Pendant, which she inherited from her grandmother, Queen Mary.
Looking rather festive is Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, in a dapper chapeau that highlights her fine features. Wearing a “Battleship” graph suit and very conservative earrings, Anne is remarkably lovely… for her.
Princess Eugenie, who favors the hideous beige, wore a modified fedora with feathers, and looks as if she woke up late.
Oh dear, it seems Princess Beatrice is TRYING not to wear such an outrageous hat as the one she wore to the royal wedding, choosing instead this comical yet maudlin tablet chapeau with what appear to be crumpled black plastic bags fashioned into dahlias.
She’s either holding a bouquet or another hat to wear.
Anyway, this is how Bea looked at the Maundy Thursday Service (I’m feeling a little maundy today myself) in York. Gran was there too.
This is Betty getting a look at Bea’s hat. BD is wearing the blue candy button dress (again) with what appears to be the Jardine Star brooch, and a modified Mad Hatter bonnet that looks like a designer box of Kleenex.
The Archbishop of York was there, wearing a Christacular mitre, and ready with a bouquet for Betty. A fun day for all!
