Here’s the Streamline Deco Dixie Drive-In, once famous for their French-fried shrimp, from 6:30 AM to 3 AM — “Delicious Food — Delightfully Served” in glamorous Tucson, Arizona circa 1940.
The site is now this empty lot at 1019 Stone Ave., next to the Best Western, 7 miles down the road “as the crow flies” from the Safeway at Ina and Oracle Roads where this weekend’s shooting occurred.
Times change.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who broke up with his wife and dated a TV newscaster for a while, broke up with her, and is now dating yet another TV newscaster (a former Miss USA), underwent a scanning at LAX, which showed that he was not carrying explosives or weapons, and also revealed that he’s a total cad.
He later patted down an attractive TSA agent… who wants to be a TV newscaster someday.

Pope Benny doesn’t like the raids on priests and high-ranking clergy conducted by Belgian authorities investigating child sex abuse. In a statement, B said he wanted to write to the Bishops there, “at this sad moment,” to express his solidarity “for the surprising and deplorable way in which the searches were conducted.”
Chexy Checked: According to a U.S. Conference of Bishops report, 10,667 people in the US made allegations of child sexual abuse between 1950 and 2002 against 4,392 priests.
Perhaps further investigation should include invitations for tea and scones.
