Two-Headed Cow

by Chexy on January 7, 2011

If you’re downwind of Georgia (the other Georgia over there near Russia), you might wake up to find this odd creature in the barn. It’s not as good as a chicken pecking at a piano, but it’ll do.

The woman explains in the video how she at first thought it was twins, and says she’s been feeding it since it was rejected by its mama. The calf apparently has trouble standing. Four eyes and three ears don’t help your bovine balance.

This isn’t new. I’ve known a few two-faced cows.

2011 Fountains and Fireworks in Dubai

by Chexy on January 2, 2011

Wow, what a tremendous display in Dubai! I mean, it doesn’t top Paula Deen as Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade, but it’s close.

The fireworks begin at 6:18. A tremendous display at Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, opened January 4, 2010. The architect is Adrian Smith of Chicago.

In Dubai, thousands thronged the world’s tallest tower to welcome the New Year with an unprecedented spectacle at the world’s highest fireworks at ‘Burj Khalifa’. The 828-metres high tower was the centre of attention as spectacular environment-friendly and satellite-guided laser-lights-fireworks show lit the sky.

The show was telecast live to over 2 billion people, a statement from its developer Emaar Properties claimed.

Close to half a million people witnessed the New Year’s Eve Gala from Burj Park, an island set on The Burj Lake opposite Burj Khalifa, and from other vantage points across downtown Dubai, it said.

The celebration also marked the first anniversary of the grand inauguration of Burj Khalifa, and enveloped downtown Dubai, the 500-acre mega development anchored by the tower.

A sea of humanity witnessed the four-act show, which was synchronised through satellite signals to and from a control station.

The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain overlooking Burj Khalifa, hosted a special fire-water-music show.

Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, said: “The New Year’s eve vala at Burj Khalifa has positioned Dubai as the must-visit destination to celebrate new beginnings.

“The show was one of the finest spectacles anywhere in the world, and that in the coming years, Dubai will be the place visitors from across the world will choose to celebrate the New Year.”

The Luckiest SOB in Sweden

by Chexy on September 29, 2010

That crisp nerd is the former Daniel Westling, newly titled Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland, that’s pronounced “Västergötland.”

The Prince is in France on an official visit with the chinsome Princess Vicki.

Before hooking up with Princess Victoria, Dan was a personal trainer and gym owner!

In May, 2009, his father gave him… wait for it… a kidney!

On his June 2010 wedding day, Westling was made a Prince of Sweden and granted the style “Royal Highness,” making him an official member of the Swedish Royal Family, and he moved into Haga Palace.

Goodbye, David Wolper

by Chexy on August 12, 2010

“Roots” producer David Wolper died Tuesday at age 82. Wolper was in charge of the spectacular 1984 L.A. Summer Olympics opening ceremony, where he had 84 pianists on grand pianos appear on rising, retractable platforms to play Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (6:30 on video).
